Electro Gym

Electro Gym is anexercise program for children ages 3-12. Activities include running, hopping, skipping, relays, working out on the exercise equipment in the Jungle Gym area and using hoppy balls. Also offering great fun and exercise is Electro Gym's DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) dance game.

Children age 3-5 will additionally play hopscotch, work on balance, and become acquainted with colors, numbers and shapes.

Guitar Hero will take place on Mondays. Arts and crafts will take place Wednesday nights, with different art projects planned as well as dancing with the DDR.

Fridays from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8-11 a.m. are free days, with the children choosing their activities such as games, dancing with the DDR and arts and crafts.

Electro Gym Fees
- Free with all EastSide memberships
- Non-members - $3 per child per day

Ages 3-5 (Structured):
Tuesday and Thursday - 9-10 a.m.

Ages 5-12 (Unstructured - free play):
Monday through Thursday - 4-8 p.m.
Saturday - 7:45 a.m.-noon

Electro Gym is closed on Sundays.

Babysitting Services

Babysitting services are available for a two-hour maximum for the children of parents who are working out at EastSide Centre. The babysitting room is open to children age 3 months through 6 years.

Babysitting Hours (effective Jan. 2, 2009)

Morning
Monday through Thursday - 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
Friday - 8 a.m. - noon
Saturday - 7:45 a.m.-noon

Afternoon/Evening
Monday through Thursday - 4-8 p.m.
The babysitting room is closed Sundays.

Times may change due to usage or group exercise schedules.

Babysitting Room Policy

Cost:

No fee for Family, Couple or Individual memberships.
$3 per child per visit for Student and Senior memberships, and non-members.
There is no fee to bring a non-DCFS licensed daycare child who is a member; however, a $3 fee will be charged if the child is not a member. In addition, if a non-member child wishes to sign up for fitness classes, the non-member fee will be charged.
Punch cards are available and cost $30 for 10 visits.

Signing In and Out of Babysitting:
Parents will be asked to sign each child into babysitting, using EastSide's tracking sheets, with the name of the child, the date, child's age, time in and signature. In addition, some sort of identification (EastSide membership card, ID card, driver's license, etc.) must be left with the staff. When a parent finishes their workout and returns for their child, the child must be signed out and the ID will be returned. This is to ensure the safety of the children.

Other Policies:
Note: Any DCFS-licensed daycare provider is prohibited from leaving children under their care with EastSide babysitting.

  1. Parents must be on the premises and readily available to the staff at ALL times while children are in babysitting.
  2. Bring the child with a freshly changed diaper. The staff is NOT permitted to change diapers. If a child's diaper needs to be changed, the parent will be paged to come and do it.
  3. Children with runny noses, fever, coughs, colds, questionable rashes or other contagious diseases will not be allowed into the babysitting room until ALL symptoms are gone.
  4. For health and safety reasons, no food or drinks are allowed into the babysitting room, except infant bottles or spill-proof cups for toddlers. Everything should be marked clearly with the child's name.
  5. So as not to upset other children, a parent will be asked to remove their child from babysitting if the child continues to cry for more than a 15-minute period of time. This will be necessary only when the staff has exhausted all efforts to comfort the child.
  6. A parent may be interrupted and pulled from their workout if the child is misbehaving and not obeying the babysitting staff. Any child who continues to be a behavioral problem will not be allowed to use the babysitting room in the future.
  7. Children are to wash their hands upon entering and leaving the babysitting area.
  8. EastSide Centre babysitters are not licensed day care providers. They have, however, undergone employment and police background checks to enure the safety of the children.
  9. Grandchildren may be added to a grandparent's existing membership. Thefee will be $9 per child per month and will extend to the end of the grandparent's contract. Fees for fitness classes will be set at the Family membership rate. If interested, contact the Office Manager.
  10. Members who operate a non-DCFS-licensed daycare may bring the daycare children to babysitting. If the daycare child is a member, there is no cost. If the daycare child is not a member, the fee is $3.
